cannot plant silver seed

when i double-click the silver seed to plant it by the waterfall, nothing happens. i've tried placing the silver seed in the patch of dirt, but that does nothing either. help?

i should add that the crosshairs doesn't even appear when i doubleclick it.

Have you tried standing in the patch of dirt just south of the dirt at the bottom of the waterfall, then double-clicking the seed in your inventory?

The problem is the directions you're given in-game. The patch of dirt right around the waterfall isn't the one you want. There's another patch of dirt in the middle of the clearing with an obvious 'hole' in it, into which you'll want to drop the seed.

BTW: If you submit this as a bug, you need to submit a savegame. I've never even played Silver Seed, so I have no way to fix it without one.

It's a Wing Commander reference. Wing Commander being another immensely popular title by Origin.
The Kilrathi were a tiger/cat like race of aliens you commonly fought against
