Hourglass of Fate isn't working?

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I just started playing Serpent Isle for the first time in my life and I can't find anything online to answer my question.

From everything I've read, the Hourglass of Fate is lets me revive my allies. Iolo and Shamino died and using the Hourglass just makes a little noise and does nothing. I set it on the ground and use it and it flashes green spots everywhere and STILL does nothing.

I've never played U7 without Exult so I don't know if it's a problem with the engine or I'm just completely missing something.

Why doesn't my hourglass revive my party!

Ahh sorry I'm an idiot. I got frustrated because i didn't want to have to reload an old save and I didn't want to have to not be able to play until I figured it out.

I thought about it for a second and realized that perhaps I have to be near their corpses, and maybe they are still where they were when we all died. So I found them and now I have my party back, yay!
