Speech not playing

The speech in the intro of The Black Gate is not playing. I cannot hear the Guardian's words. Also the TV static sounds (when the Guardian first appears) are not playing. These all work for me when I run the game through DOSBox. I'm running Windows 7. Any help in resolving this would be most appreciated. And yes, I checked the FAQ but the file which is mentioned there is alright (and it works through DOSBox).

This may be a stupid question, but do you have the sound pack? Also, you turned on speech, right?

Yes, I have the complete sound pack (on the Exult menu the speaker icon is not crossed) and in the Setup under Audio Options I made sure Speech is enabled.

is this fixed for you by replacing the introsnd.dat ?
And where did your copy of U7 come from? Files shouldn't go corrupt on their own all the time...
