The key ring is in the expansion of the game, Silver Seed. If you don't have Silver Seed, you don't have access to the key ring.
Talk to people in the Silver Seed area. Use your amulet of balance near a serpent gate to go there... If you've been given it.
Speaking of which, in BG, K works like the key ring, but that is not the case for SI. Probably because you can get the key ring in SI... but only if you have the expansion!
Thus, can you use K in the original SI to use keys?
